Well as it only takes about 30 minutes to install it and if you don't like it about 1 minute to replace backups then just give it a go.
I see some increase in speed on my site and users on my sons site also report some increase in speed.
I don't think that it is a perceived increase just because we are expecting one but a genuine increase.
I can always restore it to pre mod state in very short time so I intend to give it a go for a while but so far looks to be making a difference.

My users also note a notable speed increase, and me too. _________________ phpBB2 will never die, I hope! |

Image link Oh dear me yes I do believe I get sick at the sight of index pages that are 10 pages long...I may have an allergy to that... I get all dizzy and feel lost..my eyes start burning...it's bad...
I think I may have longindexpageaphobia.. it's a medical condition.. I think it's hereditary.. _________________ Image link

Can you re-word your reply to me more specific? Our language barrier seams to have made that question a bit vague. _________________ Image link

Heh, as in why isn't "None" an possible answer to the poll... that's a valid point. If it where there, in the form "none of the above" it would be interesting to see how many people would make the selection. _________________ phpBBDoctor Blog |

Oops...
Code: | You have tried to enter too many poll options |
I will replace Last Post Topic on Index with None of the above because Last Post Topic on Index it is a small MOD, even if very useful. |

Most often MODs don't provide fully what I want, or do the other way around, provide all too much. I guess one of the few exceptions would be eXtreme Styles: it only changes one file and it also provides other useful features features. I don't have a need to change it at all. Yet, I'm unsure whether I can name it a favorite or not.
As for the other MODs, some have only inspired me to do my own work loosely based on a MOD. Take simple subforums for an example: I ended up rewriting and cleaning up clutter from index.php entirely instead of applying a MOD. I've also disliked phpBB's table based styling for a good while, thus I rewrote everything.
I can't even release my changes as a MOD, they're too extensive and personal I can still apply other MODs, I just need to pay some attention and carefully have a look to avoid breaking anything. At the moment I'm slowly progressing with Keep Unread Flags. The worst thing is that since I have a custom Favorites page, I also need to figure out how to make it work with that page as well. |
