I don't think emails are sent when a person is banned in a standard phpBB2 installation. _________________ phpBBDoctor Blog |

oops, not an e-mail, a pop-up message - and 5 years ago I edited the file so it said,
"If you think this is a mistake or would like to work things out, please e-mail myemail@whaterver.com" -
Now I have a NEW e-mail address and I want to edit the file but I forgot which file it was - thanks - |

There are some editors available which you can use to search all textfiles in a folder.
Search for "If you think this is a mistake".

Will someone with a banned IP address receive a banner notification message like the one pictured above? |

No, because the above reason is "lack of participation", so the user may only see it after log in. Banned users can't log in. _________________ Image link

I had a feeling I was asking a silly question, but went ahead with it anyway.
I'm wondering what does happen when someone with a banned IP tries to load the site. Do they just get a "server not found" message, or is there a "your IP has been banned.." message automatically generated somehow?
If I wanted to make a customized message for this, how do I do it?
I guess I should just go to my test forum using a proxy and ban that IP and see what happens...
An info/tips about this would be appreciated though. |

If it's banned from ACP, he will see "you have been banned"; if it's banned from cPanel he will see "Forbidden: You don't have acces to this server". _________________ Image link
