Post subject: Problems with the FIND Input mod

Hi,
I am using the FIND Input RSS-import mod.
It is working very well, but has one "bug".
It cuts the subject of the messages when they are getting long.
I have extended the field in the DB from 60 to 100 characters, but it still gets cut at the same character.
It would not be a problem, but FIND does not recognize the topic as already imported, so it imports it over and over again the following days.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Best regards
Holger

Nobody? icon_cry.gif

I am going to get crazy!
I have the following in posting_body.tpl:
Code:
<input type="text" name="subject" size="45" maxlength="100" style="width:450px" tabindex="2" class="post" value="{SUBJECT}" onkeydown="typeQuietly(this, event);" />

and the field post_subject in the table phpbb_posts_text looks like this:
Field post_subject
Type varchar
Size 100
NULL NOT NULL
Key
Attribute
Default 'UL'
Extra
Sortierung latin1_swedish_ci

Even though, I cannot post
Quote:
Bilder på Konstiga, fula, annorlunda, ovanliga traktorgrävare

in the subject, it gets shortened to
Quote:
Bilder på Konstiga, fula, annorlunda, ovanliga traktorgräv

What am I doing wrong?

Hm?
Ah, you mean change the Text in phpmyadmin?

Could it be that there is a limitation in an includes-file?

You have to go to the table with your RSS input. It will be in phpbb_config or a new table like phpbb_rss. Then, you click on structure (after browse and before sql).

I was having the same problem as you with another MOD: Simple Header & Footer Edit. If I was putting too much information then the data was getting cut-off. But I changed it in phpMy Admin from 255 to 500 characters and since then, all is well. icon_wink.gif

FIND Input has this mysql:
Code:
CREATE TABLE phpbb_newsfeeds (
      feed_id smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
      forum_id smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      user_id mediumint(8) NOT NULL default '0',
      news_url varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
      news_name varchar(60) default NULL,
      news_limit smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      news_active tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
news_encoding varchar(16) binary NOT NULL default 'Detect',
      include_channel tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      include_image tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      topic_prefix varchar(60) default NULL,
      strip_topic tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      single_post tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      use_html tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      include_icon tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      include_title tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      include_description tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      include_details tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      include_content tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      include_readmore tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
      is_podcast tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      strip_images tinyint(1) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
      PRIMARY KEY  (feed_id),
      KEY forum_id (forum_id)
    );

But that is only for the ACP-setting as far as I see ...

Resuming the problem:
I want to post a topic with the subject:
Bilder på Konstiga, fula, annorlunda, ovanliga traktorgrävare

It gets
Bilder på Konstiga, fula, annorlunda, ovanliga traktorgräv

I change the settings in the field post_subject from 60 to 100. Still the same result.

So, where/in which script is the subject cutted?

Maybe this has to be changed: news_name varchar(60)

You have 58 characters here, not 60!

Yes, that is "strange", but I think å and ä counts double.

news_name varchar(60) is only the naming of the newsfeed in the ACP.
All SQL-statements are related to ACP-settings.

It's impossible to have a varchar with more than 255 characters. icon_wink.gif

Try changing the field-type to a text.

Post subject: Re: Problems with the FIND Input mod

I am have problems with this mod since upgrading the server (PHP,apache etc.). It seems it can no longer handle strange quotes and characters like that and won't post the feeds.

Does anyone know why it's suddenly doing this? I thought it was to do with a change in the rss parse php function but I even went back to the orignal PHP version and it has the same problem. I also have WAMP and it works fine offline. I'm wondering what happened to make it not work but seems something to do with the character set I suppose.
