Put a template switch block around the field when $mode == 'register'

Editing just the template won't cut it: you also need to disable it in the registration PHP file. Better yet it is possible to detect registration attempt as spam if the field exists while registering. Unfortunatenaly right now I'm on the busy side so I don't have the time to make a quick guide. There may be a MOD for this already though.

I use this MOD, it gives you an ACP configurable registration form.

Simple Registration - This will leave only name, email and password fields on the registration page, wich is way better. icon_wink.gif

Why not simply using switch?

Open templates/your_template/profile_add_body.tpl

Find :
Code:
   <tr>
     <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_WEBSITE}:</span></td>
     <td class="row2">
      <input type="text" class="post" style="width: 200px"  name="website" size="25" maxlength="255" value="{WEBSITE}" />
     </td>
   </tr>

Replace with :
Code:
   <!-- BEGIN switch_hide_website -->
   <tr>
     <td class="row1"><span class="gen">{L_WEBSITE}:</span></td>
     <td class="row2">
      <input type="text" class="post" style="width: 200px"  name="website" size="25" maxlength="255" value="{WEBSITE}" />
     </td>
   </tr>
   <!-- END switch_hide_website -->

I believe it is "templates/your_template/profile_add_body.tpl". As far as I remember it is used both for registration and profile editing. But:

I'll have to leave that part to someone else, though.

Yup that's the good one icon_wink.gif
I will edit my preceding post to add this missing information icon_smile.gif

If you do what I said, it will hide the website field for everyone except the administrator.
