Finally solved this issue and now the RSS flies - even with 100 post and 3 month limit

We are using the topics table mod I think by Dog Cow which puts a great deal more information in the topics table.

Anyway - we just changed the main RSS query to grab the majority of information from the topics table while ditching portions of the query on the user and posts tables. Also added an additional multi-field index on the topic table to speed things up on this query.

It also involved changing several references to the array further on down in the code to reflect the results of the new query.

To be honest - after going through it, we realize the original mod author should have done it this way to begin with.
