Post subject: [SOLVED] Avatar Generator mod not working

Hello to all phpbb2 experts in this community,
I hope you can help me!

Since I upgraded to a new PHP Version 5.3.2 the "Avatar Generator" modification, which has always been installed in my phpbb2 board, stopped working.

I really don't know what the problem is but now when I click over the "Generate Avatar" button in the Edit profile page, then it points to a completely blank page. It's very strange because the blank page is showing NO php or sql errors at all... so I dont have any clue or reference to attempt to correct the error. I also checked for php error files in cpanel logs, but also there, no errors reported.
The page is just blank!

The mod was working before and I haven't changed any of the core files since years.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
PROBLEM SOLVED.

Post subject: Re: Avatar Generator mod not working with php 5.3.2

There are several of the old MODs that will not work in php5+
The only option is to find the original author and ask them to fix it or find someone else that knows php well enough.

I have had a couple of older php scripts that quit working when the host switched to php5. Since I don't know php and the author is long gone, I had to figure out something else entirely.

luck,
robert

The big question is: How did you solve this?

It's always nice if people post the solution to their problem as this can be useful to someone else with the same or a similar problem. icon_wink.gif

I uninstalled completely the mod, following the required steps in the installation txt
and deleted all of the uploaded files, by the mod.

Then reinstalled it completely at scratch, along with re-uploading all of its files...

and magically now its working icon_confused.gif

mistery! probably some file got corrupted or modified accidentally icon_confused.gif

Good,

Quite an easy fix really, once it occurs to one to do what you did.

You're probably right, some corrupted file somehow.
