first attempt... it doesnt work icon_sad.gif
I dont know why, i did the modifications and I dont even see the Hide quote toggle... like if i did not do any modification at all, very strange..
PS.. maybe its because it doesn't affect "old" quotes?

my bbcode.tpl is pretty different on that part anyway... :

Code:
<!-- BEGIN quote_username_open --></span>
<div class="quotetitle">{USERNAME} {L_WROTE}:</div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_username_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_open -->
<div class="quotetitle"><b>{L_QUOTE}:</b></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_username_post_open --></span>
<div class="quotetitle">{USERNAME} {L_WROTE} ({U_VIEW_POST}):</div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_username_post_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_post_open -->
<div class="quotetitle"><b>{L_QUOTE} ({U_VIEW_POST}):</b></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_post_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_close -->
</div><span class="postbody">
<!-- END quote_close -->

Old quotes aren┤t affected, edit an old post and save it to see what happens.

Old quotes should be affected all the same, this happens on template parsing, it doesn't affect the actual posts in the database. And I tested it on a thread dating from 2009.

Dondino, since you're using a different template that has a very different structure, it couldn't work as it was. Try replacing the code you posted with this. I can't guarantee it will work right away since I'm doing a bit of guesswork. The link will be displayed next to "Username wrote:".

Code:
<!-- BEGIN quote_username_open --></span>
<div class="quotetitle">{USERNAME} {L_WROTE}: <a class="gensmall" onClick="if (this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display != '') { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = ''; this.innerHTML = 'Hide Quote'; } else { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = 'none'; this.innerHTML = 'Show Quote'; }">Hide quote</a></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_username_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_open -->
<div class="quotetitle"><b>{L_QUOTE}:</b> <a class="gensmall" onClick="if (this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display != '') { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = ''; this.innerHTML = 'Hide Quote'; } else { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = 'none'; this.innerHTML = 'Show Quote'; }">Hide quote</a></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_username_post_open --></span>
<div class="quotetitle">{USERNAME} {L_WROTE} ({U_VIEW_POST}): <a class="gensmall" onClick="if (this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display != '') { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = ''; this.innerHTML = 'Hide Quote'; } else { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = 'none'; this.innerHTML = 'Show Quote'; }">Hide quote</a></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_username_post_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_post_open -->
<div class="quotetitle"><b>{L_QUOTE} ({U_VIEW_POST}):</b> <a class="gensmall" onClick="if (this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display != '') { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = ''; this.innerHTML = 'Hide Quote'; } else { this.parentNode.nextSibling.style.display = 'none'; this.innerHTML = 'Show Quote'; }">Hide quote</a></div><div class="quotecontent">
<!-- END quote_post_open -->
<!-- BEGIN quote_close -->
</div><span class="postbody">
<!-- END quote_close -->

Salvatos!
dogs and things was right!
probably there was only a misunderstanding by you on my previous sentence, because I really thought that after making this modification, I could see even old quoted quotes/posts... showing the toggle to hide them icon_wink.gif Instead its only for the... "from now on... "

To summarize:
I tried your new code-change, and it did not work either, as my past try.
So i have just tried to quote a post now, and it works, in this new post!! icon_smile.gif
So here it goes... old posts with old quotes, arent affected for me...
from now on instead, new posts will be, and it works great icon_wink.gif

But it really should apply to all quotes ever. Are you using eXtreme Styles' template caching or something similar? Maybe try force refreshing (ctrl+ F5) a page where there's an old quote.

tried everything
cleared cache, both forum and browser, cleared cache folder even directly from ftp
but nothing, old quotes in old posts are still in the old format.
