I'm not sure how relevant this is to phpBB2, so I'm gonna go on a tangent and ask: How can phpBB3 be so obsolete when it relies on mods to add whatever features the users want? Other than using deprecated PHP or MySQL, the core itself doesn't seem that relevant to the inclusion of modern features.

It may or may not be relevant to phpBB2, but I thought it might spark some conversations. phpBB3 was built to replace phpBB2, of course, and now they're saying that it, too, is behind the rest of the products that are available. Some of what was written in that topic I agree with, some of it is probably not as important.
