Not sure how many of the PHPBB2 PHPBB team read this but some of these thanks go out to those here as well.
Celebrating our 10th Year!
Yesterday, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary! JLA FORUMS went online Wednesday November 17th, 2004 at 12:31pm EST.
We want to thank all of those who were involved in creating and supporting PHPBB2 (the foundation of what our site is built off of) as well as the mod creators of some of the original mods that we built our site on. Without all of your efforts and creations, we would not have been able to do what we've done for the past decade.
Thank You!

Just had to go and check my own site - 21st April 2004
Can you remember the phpBB2 version in 2004? I think it might have been phpBB2.0.6 I started on.
None of my members had spotted our 10th birthday and neither had I.
Congratulations on yours JLA.

Based off of our (very green/newb) posts at phpbb the day before and If I recall - I think it was close to 2.0.11 and PHP 4X MYSQL 3X for us.
Congrats on your 10 year as well! _________________ http://www.jlaforums.com |

Bah, noobs. I passed my two year anniversary two years ago. My site launched in June of 2002 using phpBB2 2.0.4, and officially went live that August when we opened to the mailing list that we were replacing.
It has been a great ride. _________________ phpBBDoctor Blog |

It has been a great ride. | You must mean "ten year anniversary", right ? _________________ Developer on EzArena, the ADR premod.

I joined phpbb.com under flogger12 11/24/2003 my first board was either just before or just after that. I came across a marketing board running on phpbb2, clicked on the link in the footer and haven't looked back since.

Congratulations, you have passed the test. You are hereby granted a free registration on this site.
Yes, of course I meant ten years...
It has been an interesting ride. Web traffic growth to my site has flattened off somewhat in the last few years, but it doesn't appear to be because of the software, but instead a natural progression. _________________ phpBBDoctor Blog |

Mine has also flattened off somewhat which I have put down to the emergence of model flying groups on Facebook. I just wish that my members would stop posting links to discussions that are on there. Most of those that are members on Facebook admit that Facebook lacks a lot of the abilities that they have on my board but say there is more activity on there. "Well of course there is you numpty's because you are posting on there but not on my board".
I know that if I start criticising them for posting the links then they may well just go away and with a minority interest sport we can't afford to alienate people.

A (non-phpBB) forum I used to visit every day had the same problem. Several members started to become friends on Facebook and discuss there instead of on the forum, and since it was a band's official site, the band also started posting their announcements there before their own forum, so all in all the boards really took a hit. |

I started with phpBB1 many many moons ago.
My main board went online Oct 11 2003.
Fortunately we have not had any dip due to FB, but we might have had very much more traffic without FB. There is a huge FB-group with the same theme as our forum. _________________ Love your data! Back it up! |
