Post subject: Mysqli for phpBB 2.0.23?

Hi,

I have an older board archive based on phpBB 2.0.23 and it uses MySQL.

Now I'd like to upgrade my whole site to use PHP 7, but I found that phpBB 2.0.X doesn't contain support for Mysqli (at least as far as I could see).

Is there a workaround so I can still display the archive on my site? Any hints welcome!!!

thanks, r.

I know there's a sqli version around the website.

Here's the one we use for recent IntegraMOD: https://github.com/IntegraMOD/IntegraMOD151/blob/master/IM150/db/mysqli.php

(you can click "raw" as use "save as")

Code:
   define("SQL_LAYER","mysqli");
You'll probably want this to mysql

the problem you will have is that phpbb 2 will not work with php7 without a bit of changes.

That's right, starting with the $_GET, $_POST, ... variables.

Huh? PHP 7 didn't change superglobals, like before they just have to be enabled on purpose in the php.ini, which defaults to $_POST and $_GET:
Code:
; This directive determines which super global data (G,P,C,E & S) should
; be registered into the super global array REQUEST. If so, it also determines
; the order in which that data is registered. The values for this directive are
; specified in the same manner as the variables_order directive, EXCEPT one.
; Leaving this value empty will cause PHP to use the value set in the
; variables_order directive. It does not mean it will leave the super globals
; array REQUEST empty.
; Default Value: None
; Development Value: "GP"
; Production Value: "GP"
; http://php.net/request-order
request_order = "GP"

They didn't go with it? Anyway it should still be replaced. It'll get removed "at some point", and it's been deprecated for several years.
