Are you on PHP7 and having problems?

of course, anything can be done.
however, I would assume that it would take a very involved rewrite of a lot of the code. It would be kind of like upgrading phpbb2 to phpbb3.2 by manually editing all of the code. icon_wink.gif

I'd say it's mostly just changes to the DB class, and updating the old $_GET/$_POST variables (or aliasing them)

Just off the top o' me head - you need to:
Convert Mysql to Mysqli
Comment out magic quotes
Replace ereg and split functions with Preg's
$$ variable variables in search.php need {} brackets to make paging work.

There are quite a few warnings to get through, tidying up stuff like uninitialised arrays.

admin_ug_auth is winding me up at the moment - anyone got a PHP7 fit version of it?

What is the highest version of PHP that can be reasonably ran with PHPBB2 without too many changes?

That would probably be PHP 5.2.

To be fair, making it php7.2 compatible isn't too hard. The hardest part if you are on mysql would be to find a mysqli db class.

Thanks - that is what I suspected. What are the type of changes one is looking at to move up from 5.2?
