Post subject: Additional caching strategies - Output buffer and cache???

Brainstorming for some additional caching and performance strategies - the following came up as a possible line of thinking. Not sure if someone has already went down this road.

Use the index page for an example.

Conditions
*Guest is browsing page
*Want to perform sessions, ban list checking - so this takes us up to just below session management on index.php

From there we have the ability to pull out of a cache the entire page as saved (again for a guest user) from the output buffer just before gzip in pagetail. So question is this:

If just after session management in index.php - use
if (!$userdata['session_logged_in']
{
$outputbufferfromcache = $cachedoutputbuffer //where $cachedoutputbuffer is the data we pull from the cache as mentioned above

}

What would be the best way to stop processing index.php (all all of the queries, etc) at this point and send $outputbufferfromcache (again which is the complete cached output buffer from a standard guest view of that page that was stored in a cache) to $do_gzip_compress in pagetail and and then on to the visitor?

Would you think this would be effective? Any other considerations - pros/cons??

Thanks
