Post subject: Interesting note from a developer

An interesting note from a developer that I received while speaking with him regarding one of his mobile templates (apparently not for phpbb2 but for phpbb3)

Quote:
phpBB2 is huge security issue and no one should use that software especially large boards...
If you guys change you mind I can help you to the update and develop a custom back-end code you need for your forum.

Maybe it is true or maybe not, but with that two sentences and not knowing who that developer is... not terribly convincing, not at all.

Tell him: Show me proof and I'll pay you to upgrade my forum to phpbb3.

phpBB2 got that reputation with the exposure in the highlight code. Frankly, it was a bad one, and based on what people have written about it wasn't handled well by the phpBB2 crew. But I don't believe that it continues to be a problem, otherwise we would be hearing more about exploits happening even today.
