My pleasure.
Whilst I was looking at the database last night it was clear that the edits would be made to the auth table but then remembering that you said you had no experience of code editing I was afraid that you might end up screwing up the database (not a good idea). Clearly a better option was to restore functionality to your board and there was more than a good chance that the fault lay in that file.
Good luck with your board.

I ran into a similar problem, downloaded your copy of admin_ug_auth.php, ran a diff against our server's copy, and spotted the problem. All's well now. Thanks so much, Jim!

Well done Pat. Long may phpBB2 continue to do the job.
Despite Facebook and other social media my site continues to thrive and attract new members.

Dear Jim,
I need your help once again. =) This time, take a look at my forum: http://www.pensfanssweden.com/forum/index.php
All the Å, Ä and Ö is replaced with a .
What do I do to fix this?
Thanks,
Lasse |

If I type "Å, Ä and Ö is replaced with a " into Google there are many pages identified that might help.
Just a quick read indicates an issue with UTF 8 and the encoding.
I am pretty sure that there was a topic on this within this site. Did you try a search for "Special Characters"?
Maybe some other member may recall what the problem was caused by and know the solution.
If it has just started doing this then something has changed. Have you had an update of PHP or MYSQL
Have you changed hosts or had to rebuild the database?

They've updated the PHP and I need to add a line in the " .htaccess file". Any idea where to look? |

The .htaccess file should be in the root of your webspace.
It should be in the folder called public_html

what php version did they update to? this may not be the only problem you will have if they updated very many versions.
for instance phpbb 3.1 won't even work with php7 so I seriously doubt that phbb2 will work at all with php7
phpbb2 may not even work with some of the php5 versions.

Patching phpBB2 to work on PHP7+ is not exactly hard either . _________________ Developer on EzArena, the ADR premod.

Help me archive premods on github! (fixed for recent PHPs). |
