I've found it, I succesfully installed a phpBB 2.0.22 board but after I put my modified files, all was ruinned. It seems that I need to put in my database, so I have to change the maximum size for import to SQL.
I've tryed this:
Code:
; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
post_max_size = 64M

Nothing...
I've tryed this:
Code:
max_execution_time = 60     ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60   ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 32M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (32MB)

Nothing... Still 16MB limit. icon_sad.gif
Anything I try changing in php.ini, it does not work. I do not know where to change that limit. icon_cry.gif

I use EasyPHP for all of my "localhost" boards (including my phpBB2 test board). It is super easy to set up and works just fine (even for local versions of really large boards).

What is the SQL limit?

You are using XAMPP and I am using XAMPP and I did a restore of a near 200MB backuo using the method outlined by Ptirhiik
Ptirhiik wrote:
Since some times now, phpmyadmin allows to put the zip (or flat) sql file on the server and to restore it from there, making bigdump quite useless. Just create an upload/ directory within the phpmyadmin directory, then edit config.inc.php (still in phpmyadmin directory) to put:
Code:
$cfg['UploadDir'] = './upload';

(the $cfg['UploadDir'] = line is probably existing, empty)

Once done, you just have to put the backup within, and to go to the import tab in phpmyadmin: there will be a drop down list with the filename in to select.

Go to the XAMPP directory and finf the directory phpmyadmin. Inside that directory create a directory called upload
Now place your backup sql file inside that directory.
Now in the phpmyadmin directory locate the file config.inc.php and do the edit that Ptirhiik suggested. Below is mine as it should look for the relevant section.

Code:

/**
* Webserver upload/save/import directories
*/
$cfg['UploadDir']       = './upload';         // Directory for uploaded files that can be executed by
                                            // phpMyAdmin. For example './upload'. Leave empty for
                                            // no upload directory support. Use %u for username
                                            // inclusion.
$cfg['SaveDir']               = '';         // Directory where phpMyAdmin can save exported data on
                                            // server. For example './save'. Leave empty for no save
                                            // directory support. Use %u for username inclusion.
$cfg['docSQLDir']             = '';         // Directory for docSQL imports, phpMyAdmin can import
                                            // docSQL files from that directory. For example
                                            // './docSQL'. Leave empty for no docSQL import support.
$cfg['TempDir']               = '';         // Directory where phpMyAdmin can save temporary files.
                                            // This is needed for MS Excel export, see documentation
                                            // how to enable that.

Now go to phpmyadmin via the XAMPP control panel and select your database. Click theImport link and then see the image I did in my last post. Clicking the down arrow should reveal the sql file.
Select and click "Go" and go make yoiurself a cup of tea whilst it imports.

Thanks Jim, I got it now! icon_smile.gif Just one more question: Should I first restore the database in MyAdmin, or should I first put the files into the directory? Does it matter. If I restore database in MyAdmin and then put all files, the forum should be running without any need to installation, right? Just the changes in config.php and I should be to go, correct? icon_biggrin.gif

Either way round it does not matter.
A database with no phpBB2 files does nothing and equally a set of files without the database does nothing.

Start> run> msconfig> Startup (tab)

Those should be the startup programs.

Uncheck the three checkboxes you see in your first image in front of Svc.

Now, to start Xampp you only have to click on the Start button behind Apache and MySql and that's it.

To stop Xampp you click on the stop button that appears behind Apache and MySql once they've been started and to exit you click on the Exit button.

Don't check the checkboxes again...

I've tried a number of the Windows-based web environments, but my personal preference has to be a virtual machine, running the exact same software as the Linux servers I use have installed. Which means a few different ones, because there is a different mix of distributions and such that I manage. And, with things like Sun's free VirtualBox out there, and VMware's Player, it's easy enough to do.

I've had several instances where things did or didn't work on the Windows box, because of differences in the configuration, including things like support for name-based virtual hosts, that I take advantage of in production, so they need to work right on the test environment. So, even my laptops include Linux virtual machines!

Something strange is happening. icon_confused.gif I've modified some files, but the forum is not modifying. icon_rolleyes.gif Of course, I am talking about the forum running on my computer. It is not changing, it stays the same. icon_neutral.gif

That means you are not modifying the files your forum is using.
Maybe you're modifying files in the wrong folder?

Also be sure to clear browser cache whenever you make changes to a site running on localhost.

It was still not working and then I removed config.php to see what happens. Well, the board did not work anymore, so it was clear somehow the old template files are loaded instead of the new ones. So I cleared the cache folder, but not from the browser, from localhost (root/cache). And after that, all works fine. icon_wink.gif
