We have tried PHPBB3 and have found as many it not to be a flexible and phpbb2. Overall - we feel the phpbb2 is superior to that of PHPBB3.

Also with about 20 million posts and over 2 million pictures and all the other development we have put into the platform - it wouldn't be worth it to move.

Can you be a little more constructive and say how it sucks?

Looks like he can't, so the answer is it doesn't suck.

Micheal, you really dont need to be here to defend phpBB3. phpBB3 definitely also has its advantages.

This site is created for people who likes phpBB2, because they cannot convert to phpBB3 because of custom functionality or phpBB3 is too complicated to admin.
Or because they just love phpBB2.
So dont think they will be fond of phpBB3.

I am running several phpBB3-sites. But I am NEVER sure if the auth is correct. I always fear that hidden forums are visible.
If somebody writes a mod that makes the auth-management transparent as it is in phpBB2, you will have VERY many more phpBB3-forums out there.

Until people stop with FUD about phpBB3, I will continue. All I ask is that people not post "xyz sucks!" without posting anything constructive. That helps nobody and really, all it does is make this site look bad. If you have a sound reason why you don't like phpBB3 and can explain it, that's fine. Nobody says you have to like phpBB3. But if all people do is post that phpBB3 sucks, then that's bashing and makes things look bad for this site.

There are ways in phpBB3 to verify the forum is hidden. There's a trace icon in the permissions. icon_smile.gif

There are very many complains about the auth-system, you know that very well.
And until that gets better I will continue to complain about it.

I love phpBB, and I am very thankful that there are programmers working on it. I have contributed by supporting in several national supportforums since phpBB 1.x.

I would like to say that your sneaking around here, playing police, makes you look bad ... sort of.

Oh c'mon, we should just take phpBB to the next level. Sorry for my bashing! icon_redface.gif

All I'm saying is that it can't be fixed if people aren't specific about their complaints. I agree, some of the complaints are founded, no arguing there. But I can't provide help (for example, mentioning the trace permissions feature) if I don't know what the complaint is.

Funny argument.
I do not think it is a sufficient reason so that a site (or forum) is considered as bad.

You really think that even if you modify some points of phpbb3 people who are here (and others that are still using bb2) will migrate above?
Stop dreaming many people don't simply want of this 'shit' that phpbb3 is. That's all. And there is maybe good reason if big communities stay with bb2 and not upgrade.
I really wonder what you are doing here if you only come to defend phpBB3...
It seems to me that it is a community for phpBB2 and not to provide bb3.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but once again, bashing doesn't do you any good. Do you see me swearing and bashing phpBB2? Of course not. Why can't you show the same respect?

Enough other persons make it for you. And I still don't see why we should to speak well of phpbb3 if we find it bad.
