How to use Easymod to update your board.
This tutorial assumes that you have EasyMod already installed and know how to use it.
Let's get started!
1. Create a folder on your server in the admin/mods directory named "updates"
admin/mods/updates/
2. Create a folder on your computer named "working".
3. Download the current version Full Package zip file from the downloads section at phpbb.com
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/phpbb/phpBB-2.0.23.zip
4. Extract the install directory from the zip file to your "working" folder.
5.Download the updates files you need from here: ( put them in your "working" folder)
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7885&package_id=28882
Get all the ones you need to go from whatever version you are at, to whatever the new version is.
for example;
If you are upgrading from version 2.0.16 to 2.0.23, you need to download :
phpbb_2016_to_2017.zip
and
phpbb_2017_to_2018.zip
etc. etc.
6.Open each zip file and extract the .txt file to the "working" folder.
for our example:
phpbb_2.0.16_to_2.0.17.txt
and
phpbb_2.0.17_to_2.0.18.txt
etc. etc.
7. Upload those text files to your "updates" folder
admin/mods/updates/phpbb_2.0.16_to_2.0.17.txt
admin/mods/updates/phpbb_2.0.17_to_2.0.18.txt
etc. etc.
8. Go to your admin panel, MOD install, they should be listed.
Run them in order.
If you get any errors about different styles, you may have to make some changes to the style files manually, but the update should continue.
9. Upload the "install" folder from your "working" folder to your phpbb directory on the server.
10. In your browser, go to:
yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install/update_to_latest.php
11. Delete the install folder |
