Did you save a copy of the css before you "sanitized" it with Clean Css?

Good!

So there's no problem any more?

The file size is very big (67KB), and I still have to clean it.

prosilver SE is based on the newer file, so I have to rewrite again.

This is the original file. I hope there is a person who could help me to find a tool to clean and test it on IE6.

Let's look at some things, the first few lines of your .css file:
Code:
* {
/* Reset browsers default margin, padding and font sizes */
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

html {
font-size: 100%;
margin-bottom: 1px;
}

body {
/* Text-Sizing with ems: http://www.clagnut.com/blog/348/ */
font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
color: #828282;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
/*font-size: 62.5%;          This sets the default font size to be equivalent to 10px */
font-size: 10px;
margin: 0;
padding: 12px 0;
}

h1 {
/* Forum name */
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
margin-right: 200px;
color: #FFFFFF;
margin-top: 15px;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 2em;
}

There's quite a few things that can be removed/optimized.

In the first declaration you set margin and padding to 0 for all elements in your css file:
Code:
* {
/* Reset browsers default margin, padding and font sizes */
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}

This means that you donīt have to use margin:0; or padding:0; again furtherdown. So you can remove all of those. You only need to declare margin and padding where it is not 0.

In the body declaration you can set the font-family for all declarations, and you can group font properties in one, like this:
Code:
font:normal 10px "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;

This means that unless you want a certain element to have a different font you can remove all properties furtherdown that declare the same as you did in the body declaration.

Colors can be written with three instead of six characters, as long as they have similar ones:
#FFFFFF; can be written as #fff; and #FF0077; can be written as #f07;

Code:
margin-bottom: 1px;
can be
Code:
margin:0 0 1px 0;

This way you can change things like:
Code:
h1 {
/* Forum name */
font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
margin-right: 200px;
color: #FFFFFF;
margin-top: 15px;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 2em;
}
into:
Code:
h1 {
/* Forum name */
margin:15px 200px 0 0;
color: #fff;
font-weight: bold;
font-size: 2em;
}

I only made a start on your file but it's size has come down to 41 kb already. I attached it so you can see if it works fine and continue cleaning it.

The best way to do this cleaning is to do it on your aunt's computer so that you can continually check after every few edits. This way you notice straight away what produces errors. But if you stick to those few changes I donīt think IE6 will cause problems.

Some good articles I found for you: Efficient CSS with shorthand properties and CSS Shorthand Guide.

Greetings.

Hi,

Colours;
Code:
$string = preg_replace('/#([A-F0-9])\1([A-F0-9])\2([A-F0-9])\3/i', '#\1\2\3', $string);

dogs and things:

I know these rules, but what I want is to get a tool to do it and not to make it get problems on IE6.

If you find a tool, tell me, and I have to start to remove some useless elements such as .rules or .signature first.

If I were you I would not trust any tool, you can only be safe and sure doing it all manually, IMHO.

If you insist on using a tool, try different settings on the Clean Css tool and see which one works best.

Can you please make a MOD for making rounded corners for phpBB2 styles? icon_redface.gif

I cannot make this function, and I don't think every MOD needs a panel with rounded corners.

But can you plase make a MOD how to turn proSilver for phpBB3 to proSilver for phpBB2 so we can look to it and try to change other styles from phpBB3 to phpBB2 or just some parts (like rounded corners)...

I DO NOT know any PHP knowledge. My semester begins today so I don't have much time to do any MOD.

Now my progress is going, and I think it will be done in this weekend.

Style rocks, IE 6 sucks...and that's my 2 cents on that.

I wouldn't worry too much about IE 6. Isn't IE up to Beta 8 now?

You should always try to make things as backwards compatible as humanly possible. It's the mark of a good coder.

I've removed useless codes in prosilver.css, and it has been cleaned by CSS Compressor. It works fine on IE6.

The next works are modifying admin.css, rewriting prosilver.css to prosilverse.css again, and debugging.

1.1.1 should be released in this weekend.

Internet Explorer 8 RC1. 1.1.0 works fine on IE8, and 1.1.1 will also work fine on IE6 & IE7.
