There is a brand world between discussing of what is possible, and how to do it. Btw, the all point is said in the last sentence of yours I quoted: users - until they are figuring it, and they will - are not informed of this disclosure: only administrators are, and what this topic is only targeted on how to break easily trust of honest peoples. If I wasn't knowing you by your very large contributions and some discussion we had by the past on various places, I would have crossed this site as "well, another place where people are discussing about how to bring others nuisances", and I would have resigned hardly.

The first word was the right one: ethic is something nobody can compromise, whatever the explanations, reasons, excuses - put your word here. It shouldn't even require any policy: it is simply an obvious act, shared in any culture, countries, groups, even by those who are breaking it - especialy by them.

Guys, excuse me, but I don't think we should do too much noise about this. It's just curiosity and it's only natural. icon_wink.gif I don't want to be the bad guy in all this discussion, but somebody asked for something and I tryed to help. If him (or someone else) will use it, it is their choise. Everyone administrate his board in the way he thinks he is the best. If we have to start talking about what's ethical or not, then why not discuss about banning people without a good reason wich is violating the freedom of expresion, wich is a fundamental right, much more important then the right to privacy. icon_wink.gif We can talk about what's ethical or not, but you'll see that different people has different points of view, and nobody can say he is the owner of the supreme truth and no one can contradict him. icon_smile.gif We act as we think. We think differently so we act differently. And even if some people may think I do not administrate my board well, I don't care. I just do what I think it's best, same as everybody else. icon_wink.gif

I second what Ptirhiik said. Users are not reading this forum - Admins are. How is posting that information here going to inform users, and help them to avoid being taken advantage of by unscrupulous admins who learn about it here? Your logic escapes me.

I'm glad that I was able to save you from being disappointed, (regarding the nuclear device comment). icon_razz.gif We aim to please. icon_lol.gif

Let's get one thing very clear right now: you have no rights on this board. If I decide that you're not following the rules, you're gone. This is not a public forum, you have no "freedom of expression" here whatsoever. As it says on the registration page (with emphasis added)
Quote:
You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. This board is a private resource for our members and content will be managed accordingly. We reserve the right to block or ban anyone by email, username, or IP address.

In other words, you can scream "free speech" all you want, it doesn't apply here. That's not ethics, that's just facts.

If you were a plumber, and while you were inside the house you decided to make a copy of the key to the house just in case you had to get back in while the owner was away to fix a leak, and you didn't tell the owner of the house that you were doing it, would you consider that ethical? If so, I feel sorry for you. If not, then how can you possibly justify stealing someone's password?

I am trying very hard to give you the benefit of a new opportunity here, please don't make me regret that.

I think it's clear the majority opinion is that this topic has outlived its usefulness. I happen to agree, therefore I am going to purge the relevant posts and leave the last bits of discussion for further input. Future posts requesting for assistance or code that would be considered ethically questionable by a reasonable person will be removed and the poster warned. The moderator team (which currently consists of me icon_smile.gif ) will be the sole judge of what a "reasonable person" is. Cheetah, if you have problems with that, you are free to take your attentions elsewhere.
