Just turn smilies off in the configuration file in the ACP. That's easier than adding another MOD.

But I think he still wants to allow smileys, though.

Yes, I want smilies, just not post only with smilies.

Example:

icon_redface.gif

Only the first post is okay. icon_confused.gif

tell your users not to do it and when they do, warn them and then get rid of them if they do not follow your rules.

pretty simple really.

it is your board, why do you let disorderly people run it?

Post subject: Re: No Smilies-Only posts

I've noticed that, many times, people do not like to be told what to do. Like Dave said to someone to not BB code whole post and that user said "there's no rule about this, but that's okay" like he wasn't very happy about it. I think it's friendlyer and nobody will comment if the interdiction would be technichal. Then the user can't say or do nothing about it... because the post won't be published, it will be forced to follow the rule, if it likes it or not. icon_smile.gif

For example, I have MODs for merge double posting, for mark topics as no double posting allowed, MOD for no post identichal to last one (great for spammers), no edit after 24 hours, no posts cappital letters only, no topics cappital letters only, delete extra exclamation points and question marks for topics and posts... and probably others wich don't remember now. So something like that I would like. Somethink like "You can not post a message only with cappital letters, please make sure you don't have caps lock", but like this "You can not make a post only with smilies; please, use words".

Prevent All Caps Posts 1.0.1
Unlike other hacks that try to automatically rewrite how the text appears in a post, this hack will display an error message that prompts the member to not type using all CAPS text.
Code:
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#

includes/functions_post.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

        // Check message
   if (!empty($message))
   {
      $bbcode_uid = ($bbcode_on) ? make_bbcode_uid() : '';
      $message = prepare_message(trim($message), $html_on, $bbcode_on, $smilies_on, $bbcode_uid);
   }
   else if ($mode != 'delete' && $mode != 'poll_delete')
   {
      $error_msg .= (!empty($error_msg)) ? '<br />' . $lang['Empty_message'] : $lang['Empty_message'];
   }

#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#

   // FuNEnD3R's check ALL CAPS
   if (strlen($subject) > 3 && (md5(strtoupper($subject)) == md5($subject)) )
   {
        $error_msg .= (!empty($error_msg)) ? '<br />' . $lang['All_caps_subject'] : $lang['All_caps_subject'];
   }
   if (strlen($message) > 3 && (md5(strtoupper($message)) == md5($message)) )
   {
        $error_msg .= (!empty($error_msg)) ? '<br />' . $lang['All_caps_message'] : $lang['All_caps_message'];
   }

Easy to install and very useful. icon_wink.gif This also blocks smilies-only post, but not if the icon code is like this - > :whistle: Only if the code is like this - > :+P or like this :+D (meaning with cappital letters)
So the MOD would have to check if whole post is with code smilies and deny publishing. icon_wink.gif
