Post subject: what CMS?

Hi guys, I've been doing a lot of research and testing with different CMS's without much luck. Joomla seems to be the most powerfull (open source) CMS i can find, but the phpbb integration is horrible. Plus its now only available for PHPBB3 icon_sad.gif I've tried MKPortal which seems to be much closer to what I was looking for, one DB, login/registering through phpbb, seemless visual board integration into portal, but there are just too many login / logout issues. Plus they have discontinued phpbb2 support as well.

I would like to know if anyone has any other ideas on a CMS to try. Here are my only requests:
Stick with PHPBB2 (duh... its the best! icon_biggrin.gif )
login / registrations through phpbb (anti spam mods seem to work great)
visual integration of forum wrapped inside portal
open source

Pretty simple idea, but I just cant seem to find anything that will work correctly. What do you guys think?

Take a look at RavenNuke, which is a development of PHP-Nuke 7.6 with phpbb2. Contains hackerprotection with NukeSentinel. Good support in the forum.

Depending on the scale of CMS requirements, WordPress integration works great with WP-United. You just need to do some small code changes to get WP-United to work with WP 2.7.

Opps my fault. I was using the term portal because I had tried MKportal. I need a CMS.

I need support of a user based gallery (currently using coppermine) that can handle multiple albums and sub albums.
News and anouncement categories (i actually love the way Joomla handles this.)
Calendar (pretty basic) with ability to display multiple calendars on front page.
User management in (or similar to) PHPbb.
Banner management and reports (also love Joomla system).

I guess this is a pretty simple setup. I will have to start looking at the CMS mods available for PHPbb. I think I just got used to Joomla and love all its mods and support. If only it could integrate properly with PHPbb2 icon_sad.gif

I use http://www.mx-publisher.com - I created my portal page with it and used their cms functions to plug in various features into that page and the forum pages (i.e. recent postings, smartor photo album, etc).

I've also seen "typo3.com" which looks powerful from the admin-side and as per http://www.single-signon.com/ you can integrate it with phpbb.
