Post subject: Redirects

There's various pages in phpbb2 that you come to after submitting a form of some kind.
I'd like them to redirect and link to my portal page instead of the index.php page. I'd also like to stop redirecting altogether on the it profile, and then provide two links. Back to Edit and View Profile.

Problem is, I have no clue where to find the code I'm even looking at work. So I'm sure it goes deeper than a mere php and/or tpl.

Can you guys help me out?

There is a redirection suite on phpBBHacks.com

I also replaced some of those redirection pages with at direct loading of the next page.
So, when my users post a message, they do not see the redirection page. They are directed to the posted message directly.

Thanks Holger.
I'll get the suite. But I'd like to know at some point how it works and where it comes from. I like to be in control icon_twisted.gif

Cancelling the redirects altogether is brilliant idea. What an inconvenience they are.

Does anyone know why every board does this?

To provide feedback to the user, and to lighten the load on the server if traffic is heavy.

Yeah, fair enough. But standard things like "Oh, you just updated your profile", I see as making a llittle more fuss for the server. Maybe I'm missing something.

I will have to find it; somewhere I read an explanation that it's also for security. It helps make sure that the request is coming from the local server rather than from another site, or something like that.

At least that is what I think I remember...
