Just wanted to share
We had been running MYSQL4x since the beginning but last week for an "unknown" reason - server started crashing during large concurrent post inserts. We were never able to narrow down the cause after significant troubleshooting. No code changed nor any other factors that we could account for. Just all of a sudden one day - boom intermittent crashes during high post activity periods.
So we moved to MYSQL5 and after some tweaking to account for new MYSQL5 behavior things seem quite stable. Also able to take advantage of 64-bit flavor as well.
Just some FYI for anyone still running MYSQL4 with PHPBB2. It might be well worth the move. _________________ http://www.jlaforums.com

We haven't seen any issue with that throughout our site.
We did see an issue with some inserts in various places calling an error for data too long for field's etc. Apparently MYSQL4 just truncated in such cases but new data integrity features of MYSQL will stop and call errors. If you change the run mode to the older behavior - well, let me just say it wasn't the route we wanted to go.
