Hi,

in phpBB3 when clicking on a PM-button in a post, the message from the post is quoted in the PM (incl a link to the post). That is a nice feature.
Is that portable to phpBB2?

Theoretically, everything is portable. You'd have to:

- Make that special button appear on each post;
- Probably create a condition in the "send PM" page that adds the quote to the message field (not sure how quotes are handled but you can probably find the source and copy/paste it) and the rest remains the same.

Basically you're creating a clone of the quote button and sending it to the PMs page instead of the "post reply" one. It sounds easier than it is, unfortunately.

It is a combination of the quote- and pm-buttons. icon_biggrin.gif
Create a quote but send it to the pm-messagefield instead of to the reply.

One of the bugs in phpBB 3 used to be that messages from private forums could be quoted in PMs even if the user wasn't authed to read those messages.

Think of that when building the system for phpBB 2.

I don't see that being a problem, since the person can just copy and paste it into a PM anyway...

Or do you mean you could quote a post that even you didn't have access to?

Not being familiar with phpBB3 I can't imagine how that could happen, but it sure is an interesting bug icon_rolleyes.gif
