I was looking for something like this for 4 different boards.
I mean different as in wanted to run the main core on all of them but make each board look different to fit it's theme.

I am trying AMFR Multi-forums today

I'm having a bit of hard luck trying to set it up though.

The installer finds the database alright but it looks like it might be trying to create a database that is already created.

I get this error when I run the installer script:

Code:
MySQL error: Access denied for user 'Phpbb'@'%' to database 'Db1'

At first I thought it was a password or host error but its not.

I can login to mysql with phpmyadmin with the same information that I am inputing into the installer fields but the installer still gives this error.

I suspect I will have to install this manually. I am unfamiliar with this application so if any one knows the routine I am all ears.

I suppose I could just manually update the multiconfig.php but I need to know how this might effect the rest of the install.

The database is not on the localhost. With the direct path it sees the database though it just seams to be denying access to it for some unknown (to me) reason.

Ok I am going to assume that no one has the answer to this issue at this point and continue on with manual editing.. Feel free to stop me if I'm about to cause my self any pain LOL

Edit:
Ok I have edited this and all seamed like it was goig well until I tried to create a forum.

I got this error:
Code:
<?php define("MFORUM", "Support"); include("seo.php"); ?>

Email went out instantly saying the board was created and when clicking on the activation link I got the error your seeing.

Edit 2: I Changed the config file a little to see if that was the problem because the installation I thought may have not updated that file but still nothing. Same error.

Also there seams to be an ongoing dispute as to whether this is legal freeware.. Of course it really doesn't mater much to me because it's strictly for personal use, but still if anyone has info on this I would like to hear it.

So many people browsing this thread but no one has any input?? Come on people at least say hi. lol

A while since I looked at this but just tested and it worked first time. I am not sure why you should have any problems with it unless it is what you have chosen as a username is unacceptable

well, technically , that is not an error.

where do you see that?

and just to stay clear;
the whole thing is a board.
when using multiforum, you are creating multiple boards
each board can, of course, have as many forums as you wish.

so, were you creating a new board or a new forum on one of the boards?

I sorted this one out my manually editing the multiconfig.php and the config.php

Then I ran into that next error..

Creating a new board.

If thats not an error then what is it? When I try to access the newly created board it doesn't take me to it. It takes me to a page with that code on it.

How do I fix that?

I can see it in the database though..

I'm afraid I've never used the package, never installed it, so I haven't been reading this too closely since I don't really know how to help. icon_redface.gif

That thread is an interesting read alright but it doesn't really apply to my issue. But thank you for trying. icon_wink.gif

Can I suggest first that you undo the changes that you made to the files config.php and multiconfig.php as clearly it should install as downloaded.
Have you read the documentation contained in the pdf file in the download?
There are some important permissions settings.

I will start a complete fresh install.

Remember the first issue I had was the access denied error so you may be ring about permissions. However I did follow the instructions exactly on the first install. I reset permissions to 777 in the specified files ect.

I will be right back in I will delete everything and start over fresh with a new database and everything.

I also borrowed a domain name from someone to help me get it all sorted out.

One sec I will go back to square one. Don't go away Jim I need ya . icon_wink.gif BRB

I really don't know what to advise you beyond what I have already.
If you want proof that it works I have just gone and installed it again.
Create your board.
The whole thing will self destruct sometime tomorrow. icon_lol.gif

I have recreated everything. In the process I saw something that I missed in the database setup to allow remote access. That may be causing the issue because the database is on another server I guess.

I'll let you know in a second. Also I have the option of mysql 4.x or 5.x I chose 4 because I didn't know if there would be a compatibility issue or a newer version. So to be safe I used the one I thought should work.

Which version are you using?

4.1.22

Have you tested the creation via the link I have put in my last post.

When I go to the Admin cp I have lots of options including adding adverts on a board by board basis etc.
Remember that this was designed to run a multiforums business with.

I will be going out in 10 minutes but back later.
